    Blocking of heat passage

Thanx Dave. I live in El Paso so cold weather is never a problem. This QB motor is new to me and I may need a pilot. My current build is a 33 Chev 5 window with a 385 Fastburn (won Goodguys 2006 National Champion Homebuilt Vehicle). I think the '32 with an 09 will be a strong running street rod.

    Blocking of heat passage

Hi to all. For a street engine, is it best to block off the heat passage under the manifold, and who would carry the plates for the Felpro gaskets? This is for a 409 with the 583 heads and dual quad 881 manifold. Will be used in a '32 Ford with 4-speed and intown cruising. Thanx

    Cam Selection

Hi Ron, I waited 8 weeks from Crane since the begining of August and also no cores available (seems the foundary shut down). they finally told me to call Nolan at Isky, and he had just a few cores. Crane said they all get the cores from the same place. Cam was ground and shipped last Friday...

    Head gastket

Hi and thanx for the response. These original style hi perf head gaskets from Show Cars do not have writing. I am sure it is like any other engine build, but need to be sure. Maybe someone out there knows?

    Head gastket

I have a set of the metal head gaskets with the embossed lines. On a QB 409 engine, do the lines 'hump' upward away from the block as they are layed in place over the two dowels? Thanx

    409 Rebuild Question

Sending new pistons to be pressed onto rods and want to be sure everything is correct. Is there an easy answer to the direction of the pistons when installed in the block and the correct side of the rod to face forward? Thanx

    Staggered mini starter

Thanx to all I appreciate the help. I spoke to DB Electric again today and told Mike about this website and how several are using his starter. He said he would have to rethink his believing that the 409 took a different block mount starter. I ordered one today, feel sure it will fit. Good...

    Staggered mini starter

Searching for a starter - I called DB Electric and one guy thought they had a staggered mount mini starter for a 409 motor, but the owner cut in and said they don't carry one and only recommended IMI. I got 11 email answers back over the past two days from all the reputable Ebay stores for...

    409 starter question

Hi, I don;t want to be a nusiance but could not find an 'engine section'. Only on the home page was a place to type in a search question, but that did not cover the starter question. Could you guide more? thanx

    409 starter question

Hi, does anyone know if the mini or gear reduction starters that are sold by Summit and others fit the 409 block? In their catalogs, they only list 153 or 168 tooth and not by engine size. I would like one to bolt directly to the block via the threaded mount holes. Thanx for your help
