Can I get help identifying this small block Chevy

Thanks for the picture of the butt end of chevy cranks. The crank in this engine does appear to be a 400 crank.

Can I get help identifying this small block Chevy

Thanks for the replies. I will get the pad suffix code and crankshaft casting number and come back. I assume by pad you mean the distributor pad? I don't remember a code but will look?

Can I get help identifying this small block Chevy

Last week I acquired a claimed to be 383 long block as part of a project car deal. Even though I've been on this site for years this is the first Chevy engine I've owned in sixty years. On the distributor pad I see 3970010 and a casting date F16 I think - the F16 aren't that clear. On the...

M/T Crossram for sale on FB Marketplace

421 Super Duty engines mounted the starter on the driver's side just like all other Pontiac blocks, the starter was just mounted upside down in order to clear the SD exhaust manifolds. They made a special starter nose to accomplish that. There is no way to mount an early 60s SD intake on later...

9771980 super duty heads. Here is a real one with carbs, linkage, etc. restored. The twelve '63 Super Duty Lemans came with the inline 9770859 inline dual quad setups installed on the engine and one of the bathtubs was in the trunk or was shipped to the recipient of the car after the car was...

M/T Crossram for sale on FB Marketplace

I don't know about Chevy applications but the word in the Pontiac hobby is that the m/t crossrams aren't that effective but more for looks. The factory inline 2x4 intakes perform better. As far as repopping them just last year two guys named John Cogger and Tom Schlauch actually did repop the...

    1961 Clutch/Brake assembly/Z-bar/Clutch rod and Firewall bracket

My intent wasn't meant to ask if it would work on a '62 Pontiac. It would not. Completely different. I wondered if it would work on a '62 Chevy? I mentioned the Pontiacs to point out that their systems '61-'64 were identical or very much alike during those years so thought Chevy may have been...

    1961 Clutch/Brake assembly/Z-bar/Clutch rod and Firewall bracket

Wouldn't that setup work on a '62? I'm mainly a Pontiac guy and '61 and '62 Pontiac big car manual shift stuff is identical. '63 and '64 stiff was a little different but the '61/'62 stuff would work on them too.

    Remember ...

I remember my first Texas driver's license number 4965117, after moving around the country to six different states starting in 1972. Yet I can't remember any of the street addresses we lived at?
