It runs very good now, I still need to fine tune the carburetor and timing and get it out on the freeway, but I can tell it’s so much better then my original carburetor that has some issues, with my original carburetor it would not run very well. I had the original carburetor rebuilt and so did...
I got the new Edelbrock AVS2 carburetor installed, it fit great on my factory intake with the carburetor adapter I got from Show Cars, I also used a heat insulator. It raised the carburetor about 3/4” to 1” over all. So I have 1 3/4” clearance to the hood at closest spot. I still need to install...
I just ordered the carburetor base only, from Bruce over at Show Cars, so I should be able to use my original air cleaner top. And it will look so much better with the original air cleaner on it.
Once I get it all together and check hood clearance, I will post a picture and include hood...
Good point Jon, I will see if I can screw in the 90 degree fitting which has the orifice, the one I have marked in green, in to the back of the new AVS2 carburetor, then all I have to do is tie in the rear draft tube in to a new air cleaner, the one marked in red. So fresh Clean air will be...
I just checked out the AVS2 and it looks like I can get the vacuum for the pcv from the front of the carburetor or the back of carburetor, the back has threads.
thanks again.
Perfect guys. I’m getting the new carburetor next week, and I will see if I can screw in a pcv valve or the elbow that I already have in my original carburetor. I’m pretty sure this answered my questions.
Thank you guys.
The original set up is like this, with the pcv hose hooked up at back of original carb which has a small hole that acts like a pcv valve. My new carburetor will not have this set up, if my original valve covers had holes like newer ones have for pcv hook ups, I would be fine
I have a 64 Impala with the original carburetor and intake, it’s the 409 with 340hp. I’m going to install a Edelbrock AVS2 carburetor on my original intake manifold, I do have the adapter from Show Cars to adapt new carburetor to original intake. need help with the PCV hook up. Has anyone...
Thanks for all the information, I also have the stock cast factory intake that I’m planning on using.
I will get the AV2 carburetor and the spacer from Show Cars, then I will figure out how to get the pvc hooked up right.
I just want to drive it right now on long distance or around town. I will...
Did you use a 1/2” heat spacer also with the adapter, or just the adapter that you got from Show Cars. and is the breather the same part as the adapter, and as far the PCV value goes I guess I can get a inline PCV value and install it between the new carburetor and the oil fill Tube.
thanks
Pat.
The tape is so nothing can get down in the motor, I keep the carburetor covered also when the air Cleaner is not on while the car sits for awhile. I’m going to check the accelerator pump shot also. Thanks
