I think I'll just roll with the equipment I got then. The 4 inch crank for the 409s seems enticing. Especially since it sounds like I need to up compression anyway.
I'd just like to have more power like everyone else. Can't really leave anything alone for long. The car is a cruiser. Maybe add more smiles at stop lights is all I'm really looking for. Keeping my intake is pretty important. Its endurishine (I like shiny objects) and don't really want buy...
Hello all,
Hope all is well. I have a couple questions. I'll try to keep it simple because this might be a couple posts to ask all my questions. Ha! I've attached some pictures of a repaired 409 block 656 casting number. Both sides have been heliarch repaired. All the way across on both sides...
Moving to Riverside County. Torrance has kinda turned into a high rent district. A little surprised they were still there. I don't think the last year has been too good for anyone...
If this is going to be one of those "better than stock" restorations, thats one thing. I can dig it.
For my money, I use Eastwood's "Chassis Black" on all my projects I care about.
Part store black caliper paint on my "budget" stuff. Still looks good
I dig that color on the 65s. If I did a 65, it'd go that color. Its different than most you see but still pretty. There's a guy here in Dayton that has one that color. Original 327 SS 4-Speed car.
Oh. I just assumed that the power numbers you listed (300 HP and 435 Torque) was power at the wheels? Is this crank HP or rear wheel HP?
I would be plenty happy with 300 at the wheels. With air con, a manual fan and a 700r. I would guess that stuff steals at least 100 HP. Conservatively
Rockauto is a mixed bag. I use them a ton. Some issues but overall, I'm happy with them. Perfect for parts for my daily beater. Doing an LS swap on a C10 and Rockauto is making the project cheaper.
For some stuff, I'd check out Amazon. They're starting to carry a lot of stuff and a good amount...
I was not aware you could mate the new aluminum heads to a small port intake. I have an edelbrock dual quad enduishine intake for small port heads and never thought they'd work right together. Wanted the heads but couldn't afford them when putting the car together. Now I'm thinking. Hahaha
I'm just a lazy civilian. I used to work on the hyperbaric chambers and the Centrifuge programs. Well in particular getting the new hyperbaric chamber set up. As far as I know, they're still using one from the 50s. Pretty cool stuff. Haha
Thank you all for your compliments.
Went to Cincy Street Rods car show yesterday. First time out of the garage this year. Had some air bag issues but it made it back. Its always something.
