Starting new engine this week lifter question
Some times you'll have to turn the engine 90 degrees at a time, on a stubborn valve trains.

Fuel pump rod question
I stick a hacksaw blade between the rod and faceplate. the fuel pump arm can just tip in. Start the bolts, remove the blade.

Oil discussion
the old Detroit diesels had alomost no oil pressure at idle. As soon as you accelerated it came right up-all the way to 35psi.??

I would worry about that fuel line down by the headers. Any hangers, etc., mounted toward the engine? When Edelbrock gets complaints, theu don't even want metal studs for car mounting.
