Hey guys, I am building another 409 engine and can't find the spec for crankshaft end play. I have .008 and wondering if this is too much. I found that SBC is .007 max but I assume that the 409 spec is not the same.
I have two different sets of 333 casting heads. They both have one head that has a GM2 casting and the other a GM4 casting.
My question is should I match up the same GM castings together or is there a reason for the two different castings?
Another question would be is there any difference...
Hey, I live within 40 minute drive from you and I have a 348 complete engine core that I am planning to e-bay after the first of the year.
You my call me at 832-524-0383
Did anyone here attend Cruisin The Coast 2009?????????????
I drove my 1956 Chevy Pickup with blown 409 to this event.
I saw several other Impala 409s there but was unable to meet the owners.
I left a lot of rubber on HWY 90 for all the spectators.
I stayed at the Isle of Capri hotel and...
I have been offered 5K for the bare manifold.
I have not talked to anyone that claims to own one.
I have begged on this site for feedback and had no owners.
It might be worth even more if is the only one running.:deal
To the other four owners of a Cragar Blower intake manifold, Pay attention!!!
I have about 3K miles with this Cragar intake manifold when it lost the keepers from the PSI releif valve. The valve is the same as many 60's HP valves that are in the head.
Long story short.... It backfired and did...
Yes, I drive it everywhere. I have tuned it down to be very streetable. I have not dyno it yet but guessing that it is detuned to around 450 HP.
I understand that there are only 4 of these Cragar intakes known to be in existance. Nobody here ever shared any knowledge of this intake manifold...
Thanks guys. This is the 409 truck engine that I built a while back. I found the CRAGAR intake on ebay. I bought the 4-71 blower from Bill Dyer. He was very helpful in helping me with all the drive also. The top hat is DON GARLITS.
IT ALL FITS UNDER MY HOOD! All your know from the outside is...
It has taken a while to accumulate all these peices to convert my 56 Chevy PU to a blown 409. The plan is to close the hood on it. NO HOLES.
Anybody recognise this intake manifold?
I custom machined the valve covers to add vents.
Bill Dyer has been the greatest person to deal with on this...
blower pics
OK, here are a couple of pics of what I have so far. Look at how low the manifold flanges up the blower.
I would still like some more history on this intake so that when I get it all together and showing, I can pass on the history.
