A friend has an overhauled 348 engine in 1958 conv,stock camshaft,low mileage,less than 5000.....driven cautiously, has broken two rocker arms last year.Engine builder replaced all the valve springs claiming he made a mistake by installing high performance 409 springs ???.That was 6 month ago...

I just checked and they are .028 down......I'll check tomorrow and see if there is a thinner gasket avaiable....AJ

O.K.....you've intriqued me.I measured the gasket and it is .062.I wonder what it will compress to?.......Ill ask Felpro engineering tomrrow......AJ

All stock tri-power engine.This Felpro gasket set had the 8002 gaskets and it will be fine with todays fuels....AJ

Which side goes against the block...the metal side or the composite side?......I would think the metal side goes against the block but I would like to have it confirmed...AJ

Thanks for the input.It has been determined that the block I have is a 350 4 bolt block with 327 rotating assembly,ie 327 pistons,rods and crank.My question regarding the camshaft hinges on the stamped number on the rear face of the rear cam journal ...AJ

I don't know how it would be evident without dis-assembly.The 327 crank I have ia 2.45 mains and 2.1 rods and 3.25 stroke.It was evident when the cyl heads were removed as the 11.1 comp pistons are orientated differently than 350 hi comp pistons.

Just picked up a 350 engine ...it turns out that it is a 327 with 350 heads on a 4 bolt main block.It has 11-1 pistons and a performance flat tappet camshaft stamped K199.Lobe lift is measured at .300 ,base circle is 1.240 and the lobe is 1.540.Can anyone ident the K199 aftermarket cam?

..This one is supposed to be from a 409...it has a governor ,or mech tach drive ,double ended with one end capped off.I was hoping to make it fit my smallblock Rochester fuel inj. with some modification as to lenght.

Thanks for the reply....it has a regular automotive dist cap attached by the two snap latches ...AJ
