    1961 350hp 348ci production numbers

The chart I have says RPO 590 is the 340 HP 4 bbl engine and RPO 573B is the 350 HP 3x2 bbl engine. Does that comport with others’ info? John

1960 348 manual to auto swap

Don is spot on here. However, you don’t have to keep the lockup feature, but it is so nice I don’t know why anyome would get rid of it on a street car. I have a 700R4 behind my 348 and it works great. There are some things you can do to the transmission to beef up line pressure a bit and...

Figured out my issue. See what you think..

Glad you got it figured out. I had a similar thing happen, but my balancer had both timing marks and I just needed to figure out which one to use. And thanks for posting your solution…. so many times people ask for advice on car forums but never close the loop with their fix. Cheers, John

    A few q's RE: 348 3X2 set up

thanks for the pics. From what I see the outer two carbs will need a check ball in the round hole of the accelerator pump well, but the center one does not have the ‘hole’ of the others and will not. Does that jive with you? good job on going with the leather. John

I feel we’re getting hung up on the check ball issue. Maybe watch this from Mike’s Carburetor. https://www.carburetor-blog.com/knowledge-base/rochester-2-jet-check-ball/ John

That is true. in addition and as La Hot Rods stated, the only difference between ported and manifold vacuum is at idle. At idle ported is no vacuum signal, whereas manifold is at whatever vacuum is present at idle (my tri-power 348 is about 20 inches). in general, the default is to use...

    A few q's RE: 348 3X2 set up

I may have misunderstood your initial question about the carburetor. I thought you were talking about the accelerator pump shot, but reading your first post again it seems you were asking about the main metering system. The aluminum check ball I mentioned goes in a hole at the bottom of the...

    A few q's RE: 348 3X2 set up

So your problem is still accelerator pump shot? If so, look in the pump well and see if there is a hole/passageway in the bottom. If so, it needs an aluminum check ball. Don’t t use a steel one - those are made for the metering jet well (under the spring secured by the ‘T’). Let us know. As...

Happy it has a W-motor, but that is one of the most ridiculous looking, dumbs-ass cars I’ve ever seen. Sorry. John
