Lift an X frame with a two post lift?

We lifted our 61 last year with a 2post auto lifter 9000. We used 4x4's on each side and lifted it on the floor board/seat braces. We utilized stands in the rear to help support the car as it is rear heavy on an offset lift.

No plans on doing the faceplate change as I would assume it would need to be recalibrated for the 7K faceplate.

    61 Impala restoration

Tachometer My dad picked up a new Sunpro retro tach (FZ88R) for the 61 and I got it installed today. Since the Ididit column was pushed as far forward as possible for a comfortable driving position I was worried that it wouldn't fit where I wanted it. The fit/finish came out great. I am still...

    IDIDIT 4sp column ?

Ididit Its a nice column, I put one in our car 61 Impala and used the stock steering wheel. You won't need the adapter piece (machined aluminum ring) with the stock steering wheel. You will need to drill a new hole at the 10:30/11:00 position for the turn signal cam, Other than that it is a...

    Rear axle bearing outer o-ring

Thanks guys for the reply. I'm going to see if I can come up with an O-ring based on your input. I tried a 2 3/4" OD X 3/32" yesterday that I had laying around from another project and couldn't get the axle back in (the o-ring was preventing it from going all the way in , too thick)...

Interior We installed the rear seat, front kick panels, front seat belts and front seat trim over the weekend. We took it out for a ride this afternoon and were pleasantly surprised how well the sound deadener quieted the inside of the car down. Next on the agenda is to schedule a...

    61 Impala restoration

Interior I started working on the interior over the weekend . I tackled the front door panels first. We purchased a full kit from CARS the end of 2008. While looking over the backing board I noticed it had 1962 on them and didn't have the perferated cutouts for the plastic reflectors this car...

    Manual transmission question

Muncie 4spd I just made this swap. I replaced my T-10 with a Muncie M-20. THe only thing that needed to be changed was the shifter linkage. Everything else bolting right up. You will need to utilize a muncie with the correct input/output shaft or the clutch/driveshaft might need to be changed...

more progress I installed the ensolite (closed cell foam) in the back seat area. I then turned my attention to finishing up the dash. I purchased a new replacement speaker from http://www.turnswitch.com. I reinstalled the factory AM radio and fired it up. Everything works as it should. I...
