Haven't measured fuel pressure but glass bowl is full. Obviously cant see it under load but when I increase the rpms to 3500 under the hood it stays full. I would think if there wasn't enough fuel pressure it could pull air back through the return line
Yes this problem is what prompted the rebuild of the carb fuel pump and ignition. Tried process of elimination but nothing eliminated the problem thus far
Right. Im just going to take it to the shop tomorrow and take the exhaust off all the way. I think you may have it. I remember years ago my dad took his van to a muffler shop and they put a 2" muffler in place of the 3" muffler he originally had and it did about the same thing. The only...
Just sitting it doesn't bog down it actually makes it to 5800 rpm and then I let off. I did try holding my hand over it at idle but there was little to no difference on either side
So the road test showed 20 inches at cruise about 1500 rpm and then wot went straight to 1 and slowly crept to 0 when it got to 3000. I will pull the exhaust off tomorrow n let you know
Sorry I thought I stated the coil was replace. Also the engine only bogs for a second and then gets to full rpm with no load it is only under load that is bogs down and won't go above 3000 rpm. That is in every gear as well it bogs at the same engine speed. I will have to get some hose and take...
Would the engine act the same way if one or more of the intake passages were clogged. If a mouse got into the intake manifold would it have these same symptoms? I can explain why it idles so smooth if that is the case. I think that will be my next step
Exhaust off does not change the problem. When I put vaccum gauge on it (with exhaust on) it idles with 16 to 18 inches and if I open it up it monentarilay dips to five then increases. When the plates are closed with engine rpm going down it is at 24 inches
I did the test as described above and with advance on and with it off the dwell starts at 30 and with the throttle increased fast or slow the dwell goes to 31
