The engine was a little stiff at first & I thought the old Chrysler starter motor was to blame for cranking a little slow.

Sounds as if you somehow got your hands on a block never meant to have left the factory grounds. I would not do anything to it until you find out exactly what you've got... Could be a "one only", and very valuable...:pray
