Ok I am back on to get the motor fixed. Been too busy the past month to touch it. There is hardly any stud in the nut. I am also seeing lots of deflection. A couple of the studs a rubbing a little on the cover. There's alot of movement. Girdles available?
First off just a FYI I bought this motor already built. It was not my decision on the components installed. Any way So yea 3/8 studs. These snapped at the rocker. Pretty sure these are the $25 set that showcars sells. Hence (cheap).
I went for a very short ride the other day. Pulling out of subdivision I shifted into 3rd and heard a snap in the engine and then a knocking in the top of motor. Immediately shut it down. Pulled the valve cover and rocker stud was snapped. I think this motor has the cheap screw in studs. I...
A little update. New 348 is in!
Got it just about broke in. Car feels pretty good I have a couple small things to work through but the old 33 is road worthy as is.
I think the 333's will be fine. I need to stay with a small port head for the intake I have to run. I am okay to leave some power on the table. I am trying to achive that look of what would of been seen in those little hot rod pocket mags of the 50's and 60's.
It is time for a update.. not much to report over the summer because i was just enjoying driving the car. As enjoyable at the car is... it is disappointing in the wide open throttle department! I had full intentions to build this motor into a 380 but i found a complete fresh 348 at decent...
Just a update. I have not made any progress on the 348 yet. I just been driving it. On the warmer days it has been running a little on the warm side 210 ish. The 33 is using a old 40 Ford rad that could probably use a good flush and Inspection by the rad shop. Any thoughts on those edelbrock...
Thanks! I did not know Mortec was back up!
So the parts I was wanting to look at was a bust. I never got a return call from the guy. So I am still on the hunt.
This motor sounds pretty decent (believe it's a member here motor). If I can at least minimally achieve this sound and hp in the mid to upper 300's I'd be happy.
