Very great idea. Never seen before. Used the flywheel on mine when it was out.

I used cast when I built my 409. .040 Egge are what I used and no regrets. It is just a little hotrod and not rev'd high at all.

My "068" also had numbers stamped in same location as OP's block, but I chalked it up to a previous rebuild. Numbers also did not correspond to cylinder bore locations

I believe he is stating rotating crank in different positions while priming. My machinist told me the same, rotate every 90 degrees and prime.

Thanks. I was a little overwhelmed by the tuning aspect , but with some instructions from a friend who is a guru with EFI, the old Holley system is fairly easy to tune. A lot more time consuming compared to the newer auto-tune systems on market, but was definetly much cheaper.

Update Just finished installing Holley Commander 950. I am very impressed with the EFI. Motor hadn't been started since dec and with a fairly close base map and it didn't roll over more than 4-5 seconds and fired up and idled. Wow. Now the fun part of tuning fuel map. With the breather on, it...

Reason I went with 153 tooth is my truck was set up for the 153T with the old 283. Pictures in my build thread. If interested in jig pictures and dimensions, let me know.

I built my engine with the 153T flywheel. I made a jig to acuratly drill and tap new hole in block. Very easy. Jig locates off of stagered starter bolt pattern. I used the DELCO 1996 Corvette starter. High torque and is a mini so clearacne on oil pan rail is perfect. Works awesome and spins...

I am in process this fall on converting to megasquirt 2. I have the sensors and pigtails, and distributor from a 1991 5.7 litre truck. Going to use a modified 2barrel holley throttle body temporarily. Anyone tried megasquirt?

I have the mutha thumper in mine and I am pulling 12" at idle. Mine likes 20 deg. initial.

I am using Lucas engine break in oil additive along with 15/40. I used it in my 283 with no issues. I like the extra viscosity in the hot summer months.
