Another option is to put a tee fitting in the heater hose to bypass inlet on the water pump. The bypass just allows a slightly faster warm up.

'60 not '61 :doh Some how I decided what Cecil was coveting was a '61. I do like '60s as well, in fact I might like the '60 Pontiac and Olds a little better than the Chevy:rolleyes:

I don't know Cecil. It looks like there could be a lot of hard-to-find and expen$ive trim missing. On the other hand it's pretty hard to go wrong on any GM '61. They are really pretty. I'd put the W in it, no offense to Skip, but I'd pass on the early Poncho.

The only purpose of the bypass around the thermostat is to facilitate a quicker warm up. I do not use one on my Ford and probably will not use one on my truck either.
