I have seen truck blocks with and without the big combustion chamber was this an option at purchase or did GM stop making them after the first few years? When a replacement block was purchased did it have the small chamber?

rods are bbc ibeam floating from showcars with arp 7/16 bolts. both pics look like a simple process as long as done carefully. I have heard .050 clearance between bolt and block?
