Jake, forget the battery, they will get weak and cause the tact to read wrong. Call Williamson's Instruments and get it converted to electronic . www.williamsons.com (479) 369-2551. Several on this site have had this done.

Williamson's did my tach and transmitter years ago and it still works great !!!!!!!!

No.....original batteries were 1.35 volt.
