Maybe this was the case, he had two Starliners, everyone in this area had always thought that the car that Wally bought was the one in the pictures you see. I don't know if the car he bought was a 375 or 401, I always assumed it was a 401

Jody, unfortunately I don't. I saw a picture of the 375 HP Starliner published by Hot Rod Magazine in the pits with hood up and Ritchey dialing it in with some hand held device. I was scratching my head at the single 4 barrel set up rather than the tri power. Then found out later when I was down in Pomona CA at the NHRA museum he had 2 Fords. Also I didn't know he was required to run the stock 3-speed column shifter no floor shift could be modified per NHRA rules. Man that would of been ackward trying to speed shift that thing, though he did record lowest ET with a 13.33 run.

Well I ordered the car in 1961 from Dick Barone Chevrolet in Springfield, PA. Took delivery in February 1962, 2 Dr. black Biscayne with dual quads, 4 speed & 4.56 posi. Raced the east coast for awhile (York, Atco, Vineland, Maple Grove & Cecil County). Lived near Bill Jenkins, wanted him to tune the car but his $100.00 fee was more then I could afford at the time. Raced against him & Dave Strickler at York US 30 Dragway. Also raced against the NorthWind, Arnie Beswick & others. I never won against those guys but did pretty good when they weren't around. Went to college in Iowa for a few years that's how I got to MAR. Usually raced a small strip in Kohoka, MO., it was close to the college. Went back to the east coast after graduation & traded the car in at the same dealer that I brought it from so my parents could buy a Corvair!!!! Then joined the army. Don't know what ever happened to the car since I don't have a VIN. Wish I did would love to see if it is still around. Brought my BelAir in 2008 & loving it. Having a great time racing.:winner
