A little light reading there Cecil. :teehee

Standard engines for 1965 were either the 140hp 230 cubic inch 6 cylinder or the 195hp 283. I guess a 3 speed manual trans was probably the standard.

Other than that, you basically added what you wanted from there.

Here is our fact page with some more:

Aside from the base engine and transmission choices, The SS cars came with spinner ss hubcaps, bucket seats, center console, brushed ALUMINUM dash inserts (not wood grained) and seat covers/door panels unique to that model.
The rear body moldings were unique to SS cars (and Caprice) also. Not sure what exactly youre looking for???
Manual steering and brakes would have been standard also.

I was wondering what happened to those build sheets! I was bidding on them when they were on ebay over 10 years ago! Seller in Western NY said they were found in a file cabinet.

Not so lucky. My father in law bought the 65 impala in 1968 for my future wife, The last time the car was plated was 1974. He passed in 2005. We have been restoring it over the last five years. I know he put in a 350 engine out of a wrecked 1970 Camaro. As far as the original motor not sure what was in it. I also think it was an automatic SS and not a 4 speed because there was no back up light switch wire going through the firewall.
