348 Cam button?

Wondering if any one can tell me if I need a cam button? I have a 348 .030 over, 0921 Isky cam, Cloyes true roller timing chain, Mallory distributor, 10 to 1 forged pistons.

No for a Hyd and yes for Solid

Flat tappet no. Roller cam yes.

I would run a cam thrust washer/block protective shim behind the Cloyes gear no matter what.

The angle of the lobe forces the cam back into the block. Material of the upper gear determines if it will wear the block. Better safe than……..
