And not touching the spring Keith just the photo angle.

You are right Keith and we had plans of changing these....but you thing that the machine shop would not install them

Couldn't the guy have just cut them and weld them back together if they were to long?
If there has been that much pressure to pull them down what latent forces are on the studs?
At the end of the day the guide plates are just guides, as long as they are in the right location.

The guide plate on the exhaust side is not square with the push rod...it has the fork bent. If that makes since.

These are a set of 583 heads that Tom had one good that Dan had ported then Tom found a mate for it and sent it to Dan to have him match the other.

I know this don't count but just for a peek I had to know if I even had a fighting chance and Tom for that mater.
Checked the piston to valve clearance with the new cam and old timing chain as it was set 3 deg advance with slop in the chain and had .110 on intake and ..140 on exhaust.
Sounds to me like you guys and gals better look out.
