I have always wanted a 409 and just got one for my Model A.
Looking forward to all the learning and interaction on this site.
I am a Ford tech specialize in Diesel and Automatics but work on all makes of Trucks and RV's F350 and bigger.

Looks like you have a W boat engine in there. You might have a reveres rotation engine ?

Single engine boat so proper rotation and it had a cooling system with antifreeze which is good as well.

Good thing rotation is right, otherwise you would be backing up all the time instead of forward!!!!! Look's like a tight fit.Car look's nice...................

Feeling dense, what clue (not that I have one) shows this had been a boat motor?

The plastic drive gears run off camshaft. Crank hub.
Intake manifold has rear water outlets and none on front.
