The Great Junior Johnson finished 14th out of 59 entries in the 1959 Daytona 500 with a beat-up 1957 Ford. Johnson finished 11th in the points standing for the 1959 season with that "old" car.

Richard he certainly moved ahead quickly in 1963 with the "mystery" 63 Chevy. He didn't win the 500 as I recall but he sure made folks take notice. Maybe our "esteemed" 348-409 member who actually raced in NASCAR could give us some on the track comments?
