From ‘55 Chebbys up, so many guys believed it was easier to pull the radiator to get to the cam for a change. When you get the cam coming out it clears most everything except the grille.
Hence, the hole cut in the grille:)

Not to hijack the thread, but I remember a couple of techs that worked as a team at the Chevy store changed the rings on the passenger side 283 or 327 on one piston(warranty), they dropped the pan, rotated the crank and pulled it out through the bottom! Got paid for all the top stuff, Genius!

The air cleaner for the Clay Z11 turned up a few years back. It had a spray bar added. I have a friend who as a teenager was around Bill and the car. I asked Ron if Bill hadn't been spraying Nos...he replied "no"... but went on to explain Bill had sprayed both propane and OXYGEN!!!

You don’t have to cut a hole in anything. You do have to remove hood mechanism fuel pump and raise the motor.
