Going through a bunch of stuff I stumbled onto this Chevrolet document I had really never paid much attention to.

It is from 1967-1973.

After studying it I was taken back at what I discovered. I am going to post copies.

Since I can’t review them below while typing look at the so many different cu in combinations.

I knew about 366, 396, 402, 427, 430, and 454’s.

I never knew about all the rest including up to a 500 cu in.

The document lists crankshafts, rods, pistons, rings, etc.

Probably more questions than anything else.

Hope you can make out the print.

Not sure. On the 430 we received the crank, rods and pistons and it was designed for a 427 block. It was used in the Corvette and Camaro road racing cars.

I bet those 482 CID’s are the Kiekhaefer Marine tall deck BBC’s from 1969. There used to be a local speed shop to me that had an aluminum high rise intake from one of those motors that always intrigued me. It was unlabeled and had a strange casting number along with features reminiscent of both short & long water pump motors. I was always stumped by it and I bet it sat on their shelf for many years. When I finally realized what it was it was unfortunately gone.

There has been some truly outstanding engine designs from GM for more than a century (prototype or production).

Like this 1911 707 cid Oldsmobile

A further glimpse of many rarities at Bill McGuire's website:

Pat, what is that document? The way it is layed out looks like it could be a key for an IBM punch card.
Maybe a bill of materials for partial engine assembly (shortblock)?

Cecil, it’s an unusual document. It’s like a blueprint, about 2’ x 3’.
Shows crankshaft, rods, pistons, and rings by individual part numbers.

I’ll try to post a better photo.

Some of the larger engines may be for Cam-Am racing. I have read about 496 test engines for medium duty trucks.
