I'm calling this a "vice buddy." 
This simply supports long heavy items in a bench vise. No more looking for things to prop under that work piece!
What makes this interesting is the wedge shape designed post. A locking bolt pushes a moveable plate and wedges against the post so it cannot slip downward. Just a light touch is all that's needed, no cranking down of the bolt. I didn't invent this design, I saw this on another tool and incorporated it into this.
This can attach to your workbench with screws or with a C clamp. To make the tapered post, I took a piece of square tube and cut a taper down it lengthwise. Then I capped it with a piece of metal and welded it.
