Drag racing with no front shocks?

So in my search to tune this big heavy wagon up front I found a couple guys that swear by running no front shocks. What are the thoughts on this? They claim that due to my wagon's heavy weight that its best to run without front shocks.

I'm sure it's a NHRA requirement to have a shock on any suspended axle.
What made me first ask around about it was some footage of GRUPY JENKINS in one of his cars. If that car had shocks in it then there was no guts in those shocks because it bounced around like he was at a lowrider competition as he came up to the line. It took off and kept the nose up all the way down the track but did look pretty loose up front. I haven't experienced any control issues with my 90/10's but with anything its important to ask and understand.
