Cutting Coils

Was thinking of lowering the front of the 63 about 1" ,all 4 springs were replaced with stock Moog in the last few years the fronts last year Would like to even it or have a slight rake. I feel 2 " would be to much for my liking, If a half coil is cut do I not worry about indexing the cut end of spring .

No both ends are indexed ,read somewhere that a guy put a piece of rubber hose on the cut end to keep from moving. Just found a set of moog #6312 that might be the ticket anyone used these for the front , pictures would be great .

I was told years ago that, for every 2.4" of spring coil you cut off it will lower the car aprox. 1/4" and it has worked for me. This was from Herb Adams.

i cut my factory original coils (61 impala) ..1 coil dropped it 2".....
That's about right. if you run the factory power steering, that 2" drop can cause a problem at full lock going through a spoon drain, could crush or damage the fittings and hoses on the control valve. I changed these for a 90 degree solid fitting to ensure it cleared the chassis.
