Are the roofs on a 1962, 1963, 1964 Impala 2 Dr Hardtop interchangeable? I know the front glass is different, wasnt sure about the roof itself.
Thanks,
Harley

You should be able to cut this top off with a cutting torch and then straighten it out and weld it back on to another car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nooo Keepin this car, gonna fix somehow.
It sat under a carport since 1980's. 1 original owner. Was bought new in 1962 from closed dealership 7 miles from my house. Its about as clean as you can hope to find one in this part of the country. After knowing about the car for 25 years and trying to buy, a Tree fell on carport and I was finally able to buy the car. With the exception of a couple of spots, the car is in great shape. I would even keep the original paint. See quarter pics. This is what I plan on putting my 409 in.

You should attempt to find a roof from a 62 Impala, just in case the A Pillar post is bent. That is the post at the wing window.. If that post is bent, you will need to cut that front wing window post at the very bottom where it meets the bottom corner of the windshield opening. The roofs of the 62 thru 64 are the same, except for that front pillar post as mentioned above. That post on the 62 is curved , whereas that post on the 63 & 64 is straight , going up to meet the roof'. I would try and save the original car, as it is an SS V-8 , 327 CI , probably matching number car... Also the color, Ermine white, with red interior is a great combination. Good luck

I bought a porta ram, I will have to at least get the A Pillars lined back up even if I do cut roof off.
I also got a new front glass for it to make sure its square and fits. Will see how it goes. am no body man tho.

If the roof is solid and not rusty before I whacked it off I would try to straighten it first you may be able to get it straight enough to just put a roof skin on it. If not you still have the option of whacking the whole roof structure off and welding a new one on.

Yes, 62 bubble, it is all original, all matching, I could save motor but it is currently locked up from sitting and I really want to put my 409 in it.
That is what I needed to know on the roofs, I knew they looked the same. When I got to searching for a windshield I found out there was a height difference.
Thanks,
Harley!

Before you pull the 327,while you're working on other stuff, mix up a batch of 50% acetone and 50% atf pull the plugs and fill the cylinders and reinstall the plugs and let it sit, fab up a handle that you can bolt to the balancer in place of the crank pulley, once a week or so grab that handle and rock the engine back and forth to see if you get any movement, top off the cylinders periodically with the acetone/atf mix and if you start getting movement pull the plugs and try to get it to go all the way around. I pulled a 62 C20 out of the woods that had been sitting there for 25+ years and was able to get the 261 unstuck and got it running it smoked a little because the rings were still somewhat stuck but it actually ran pretty good, I bet if I had pulled the plugs and refilled the cylinders with the mix again and let it sit some more and try again they would have freed up, as it was a guy wanted the engine as was.Its a lot easier to do this before you pull the engine.

Judging by that picture of the windshield from the front, there is a good chance the top of those windshield pillars are bent inward at the top? That may make it very difficult to get the windshield opening back to square. Pick up a set of 62 glass mouldings and see how things line up? Check & compare measurements from a good 62 impala sport coupe?

I have pictures of a conversion of an impala 2 door roof being installed on a 4 door sedan body to convert the 4 door to a 2 door. To replace the roof on your car it may be easiest to use some of the replacement roof car’s quarter top and the area between the back glass and the trunk lid? I’m not a body man so my advice is worth what you are paying for it.

I’ll dig those pics out.

Harley, I have the perfect donor for you! I have a '62 Impala parts body. Floors, bottoms of quarters, rockers etc. are pretty much all gone. I am slowly taking off anything usable. The roof is in pretty decent shape, I believe. I can get you pictures if you want.
Yes, Steve, send me some pics. I will definitely try to straighten it first but keeping my options open. What is best way to ship these? I followed up on the one Ron Sales has mentioned above, its very clean looks like car was stored inside all life except everything below door rusted away from salt up north. I havent heard back from him but I 'm expecting shipping from Rhode Island to Alabama might kill that idea.

Great News! Finally found a roof for the 62, I found one off of a 64 Impala, Its in great shape, rest of the car was completely gone including frame, and the guy I got it from is using most of other salvageable pieces so none of it is going to waste.
question, I know the A pillar is different down front, I will cut it higher up and slug or something to get it lined up correctly. On the B pillar, see the Blue line on my existing roof, I plan on trying to take it apart here, are these leaded up top like most other roofs where I can drill them out and just use the top roof panel?
