    New build 62 Impala SS

Well Stan, since I went thru this exact thing on my Belair some time ago, you have two choices: 1. Find a rust free Inner fender doner (?) good luck. 2. Piece-meal patches. Either way, it is a LOT of work up in there. Now, the wheel well lip. Bad design by GM. Water collects btwn wheel housing...

Correct. I just rebuilt front/rear suspension three wks ago on my ‘62 Belair. Yep, had rear backing plates wrong.........changed them out and ebrake cable fit perfect. Finished front rebuild. Brake line didn’t fit(?). Switched them out......... perfect. I learn the hard way!!!!! Funny when...

64 Bel Air and Impala rear seat differences?

Bottom cushion corners are different btw 2dr and 4dr. The 4dr corners are more round. The 2dr corners are more sq. Hope this is not getting confusing.

64 Bel Air and Impala rear seat differences?

Since they both have the arm rests, I was under the impression they were the same length. Sorry if I was wrong. Dennis Bubp

64 Bel Air and Impala rear seat differences?

Correct. The 2dr Impala ht and the 2dr Belair bubbletop (they only came in 2dr) are the same length. Of course the back Impala cushion has the speaker. The bottom cushions are the same. Dennis Bubp

64 Bel Air and Impala rear seat differences?

The 2dr ‘Sports Coupe’ (ht) is about 5”-6” shorter because of the rear arm rests. Belair sedan 2dr and 4dr are longer AND different shape on the ends. Belair of course does not have the speaker in upper cushion. I have a ‘62 Belair 2dr sedan bottom with original covering in good shape if...

1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe 409 4-Speed in Rhinebeck, NY

There isn’t a list per se. The plants differ in the acc codes. My Tarrytown assembled ‘62 bubbletop (March) has ‘L’ and a ‘T’ in the acc code. Not sure what they are. It is factory 4sp. Other plants could have same letter but different code. As I understand, the plants started using same...

    Pulling axles on a 63

What I did, was remove wheel cylinder and use a big punch thru the whole. Set punch on back side of wheel stud. Wack hard, turn axel, repeat. Worked great. Now, wheel bearing ‘O’ rings: Put a SMALL chamfer around the inside edge of housing to prevent damage to the rings. Clean inside area of...

    New build 62 Impala SS

Stan Would a 'C' channel down the insides (14g) work? Box tubing might be a little tricky. Then, attach the rocker top each side(?). Are the '63 rocker outside any good? Don't forget the center vertical (14g) brace too. Just a thought. Dennis Bubp

    Traction Master traction bars

My ‘55 2dr 210 had a set when I got it in summer ‘65. He used to run it at Famoso in early ‘60’s. I have to assume they were for leaf springs only? Right? Denni Bubp
