    471 on 348?

Well I was too late, it’s sold, but given my recent discovery, it looks like I’ll need the money elsewhere..

    40 deluxe sedan with 348 - project

However, one thing has been at the back of my mind for a long time. I bought the engine as a rebuilt unit, and looking at it, it appears to have been taken apart, the valve stems look new (through the exhaust ports) the heads have been off and core plugs changed, but I’ve never been able to turn...

    40 deluxe sedan with 348 - project

A little update, I’ve been beavering away in the background, headers are now done, finally, inner fenders modified to take the headers but hopefully still look stock, re mounted the alternator on the passenger side as on the drivers side the fan belt wanted to run through the top hose. I also...

    471 on 348?

I've been thinking about this for a while, and now a 471 is up for grabs. Would this combo be viable? Obvious issue is the manifold, my engine is a late 58, so heads are the later design, but I was thinking I would need to modify an ally manifold, but from what I can tell, the runners on...

    Another carb question, pcv related

Thanks all. I'd love to go to my local parts store for this Phil, but as NPT is a US thread, and i'm in the UK, unfortunately my chances are slim of that happening, its internet shopping for me. The brass fitting measures up at 17/32, which i guess must be 1/2 inch, so I guess the carb base is...

    Another carb question, pcv related

Thanks. I assume if I measure the outside thread diameter of my brass 90, then the ‘hole’ will be the next size up, maybe..

Quick carb question, 2g fuel inlet thread size

You’re right Ozzie, it’s very tight in there, I will lightly modifying one or the other to make sure the washers seal. Thanks for pointing it out tho.

    348 in a '33 Roadster

Looking good, engine info is interesting, I was surprised by the HP figures quoted, didn’t realise a 348 could make that much with just a cam change. Looking forward to updates

    Another carb question, pcv related

Went to fit my pcv kit from show cars, ‘easy job’ I thought, but no, the brass fitting that screws into the center carb base is way too small. So I need a different right angle fitting, any idea what this carb base hole thread size is? Thanks

Quick carb question, 2g fuel inlet thread size

So here’s a pic of the type of fitting I’m using. 1/2 20. I will have a double banjo back and center carb, single on the front carb. Back banjo bolt is drilled to take a fuel pressure gauge, rubber hose will run from a filter/ pressure regulator on the firewall into the back carb, then on to the...

Quick carb question, 2g fuel inlet thread size

Little update, after trying to find a unf thread gauge in Blighty, I thought ide try one of the othe banjo bolts, and it fits!! So, one dodgie thread, the other two are fine. Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Quick carb question, 2g fuel inlet thread size

Thanks. Yep, bronze filter and a spring behind that. I thought I’d cracked it, went to a speed shop with the back carb, and it appeared that banjo fittings for a Strindberg fitted, so I bought them. They arrived today, I excitedly went to screw them in, and it will barely go in the front carb 2...

Quick carb question, 2g fuel inlet thread size

Little update, realised today that I’ve been barking up the wrong tree. This is what I’ve got, as you can see, tube nuts screwing into an adapter/reducer on the carb. The thread on the tube nut measures 1/2 inch. I’m assuming that this is a pipe set from show cars or similar, so anyone know what...

Quick carb question, 2g fuel inlet thread size

I want to fit banjo fuel fittings to my 2g tripower, does anyone know what the thread size is in the carb body? I've found a few that 'might' work, but want to confirm thread size. Thanks. https://quadrajetparts.com/hose-barb-banjo-inlet-fitting-p-822.html...

    Mini Starter Alignment

Thanks guys, but, wouldnt powering up the starter make it want to turn the engine over, so how would you measure the gap between the pinion tooth and ring gear with the engine turning over, or is that not what happens? I thought maybe you somehow lever the starter pinion out and hold it there to...

    1962 Super Stock Build

Just a quick one, i'd leave the powder and paint it. I know you probably dont have much damp, but it gets under powder and runs underneath it, suddenly all the powder fulls off and there's a load of rot. Its also not easy to 'touch up', and chips, despite what 'they' say. I dont recomend...
