Here is what I learned about gearing for the 1/8 mile in the 80's don't do it. Leave what you have in there for the 1/4 mile. I had a 80 Malibu wagon with a 427BBC in the car, turbo 400 and 3.73 gearing. The car ran 8.0's in the 1/8 so I thought switching from 3.73 to 4.56 would really pick the car up. Made the switch and guess what? the car ran the best of 7.95 that's it. Later I put a new converter in the car and it went 7.65 after that I put the 3.73's in and the car was now running 7.50's. This year my car ran the best of 7.05 with 4.10 gear and 28" tires, switched to a taller tire and the car now goes 6.80's. Have a buddy that has a 9" ford rear axle in his 68 Camaro with a 6.00 gear, best he has run with a 12:1 355 is a 7.30, he is over geared. I also had an old Nova that had 2.56 gears with a turbo 350 so I ran the car in the first 2 gear in the 1/8 mile. That sucker with the mild 400 ran 8.30's all day long.

The ballast holds the steering wheel.
So out of the dozen or so videos I have of your car blasting down the track. When it gets a little loose to one side or another, then your butt is sliding side to side in the seat to keep the car straight? I'm only asking because I have never gone fast enough to need to shift my ballast. I hope to some day! LOL!
