Back on it this weekend....
Cut out the rotted cowl support and have patched it up, then cut the rotted hinge pillar skin away, leaving the support in place.
Having to fab a replacement pillar skin since they are not available....
Tomorrow hope to have it, the lower cowl patch and the rocker in place...

Well....May sure was a long time ago.
The summer and work pushed the coupe back into the corner and I am now dragging her back out.
Have decided to get the rear end centered in the wheel well, need to shorten the parallel 4 link bars by 2.5”.....I cut them and tried to use my 3/4” tap....no joy.
I ordered a new set of 4130 moly tubes with weld in cups today and enough material to make the new track bar also.
Went with 1.25” tubing with .095 wall....good stuff.
Will get back on the patch panels while waiting on parts.
I have a buddy in Houston with a shop....shear, a brake and bead roller. Once my patches and rear end are done I am to take it down for a Friday/Saturday/Sunday thrash with his buddies to get firewall and floors built and tacked in....hopefully in next 30 days I can make that call!!

Well....I don’t have an air sander( I need to cruise the pawn shops)....so the finish is as good as I dare take it with a 4” floppy disc and cooling it every few seconds.
Before and after....,time to go feed the cows...they are hollering for me.A1F6779F-58FC-4495-96E1-DF51EBC8524C.jpeg266B421B-0D2A-456C-8E32-67F83B7B48A8.jpeg

Tell Bessie Hi for me!!!!
I used to help Grandpa milk the cows on his 1-legged wooden stool!!!!
Ah.......the Good Old Days!!!!!!!
Another animal story....Grandpa named everyone one of his horses Babe. I would take her riding around the farm. As soon as it was time to turn around and head for the barn......she would gallop for the barn at top speed and NOT stop!!!!! When she got to the barn door she would jump thru the opening and I had to duck to keep from scraping my spine on the top of the door opening!!!!!!!!! Did that a couple of times!!!!!!
Then I would dig up worms under Grandma's bridge planks under her clothes lines and go down to the river and fish for bullheads!!!!!!
Probably 7-8 years old.!!

Ok.....new parallel 4 link bars and track bar have the wheels centered..... now I can really see that I will have about 2” of extra space between outside tire wall and inside fender.....leaving about 1/2”-3/4”....
Guess I will be buying a 12”wheel and offset the extra 2”.....current wheels are 15x10.
May just put a spacer on to begin with and have more gap than I planned.75508A20-F429-4BCF-81CC-E1CC03BA3944.jpeg9B1A5437-A84D-4194-B58A-B22B612FCBEC.jpeg9E5FC878-50FC-42F8-81FF-8269F3C1E940.jpeg

Today’s McLennan County follies included moving the rear upper shock mount and tacking it in.....spoke with Chassis Engineering tech guy about how much to compress the coilover shock.....4-1/2” total travel, compressed it 2”.....so have 2-1/2” for shocks and 2” for rebound....we estimate a 150# or 170# coil spring.
Compressed the shocks and hung them and saw where the lower mounts will go .....gives me 15 degrees of angle to help with stability.
Mounted them on the back of my 4 link brackets.
