This implements the FH engine in late 60 as well as the other engine changes brought about by the intoduction of the 1147 heads. Note that the two top solid lifter engines were still marketed as 335 hp and 320 hp instead of 350 and 340 until 61 production even though they were identical.:rub

Cecil,
I think Chevrolet held back on rasing the horse power ratings because they figured they could get more "mileage" out of the higher ratings when the new cars were introduced. Thanks for sharing this info

I agree.
I think they did the same thing in 59 when the late 58 solid lifter "Police Cruiser" engine was rated at 300 hp and when the 59 model was introduced they called it 305 hp with no changes.
Likewise in 67 when they dropped the L-79 (350hp) 327 engine from the Chevy II/Nova was probably to not overshadow the introduction of the Camaro 210. 275 4327's, and 290hp 350 engines which would all be lower hp than the Nova L-79 hurting new model sales.

Hey, there's the names for all the engines listed by HP. Should have had a Special Super Duper Turbo Thrust 360 HP version.

If I'm not mistaken,the l-79 was retained in the Nova's as a 325 hp engine,but remained 350 hp in the Corvette .

Nope, the L-79 was dropped for the Nova in 67 although late in production they added it back in but didn't advertise it. So far only about 5 or 6 documented cars have been found and as I recall they all were built in late June or July and had the 68 version of the L-79 with cast iron intake and quadrajet which was, as you say the 325 hp version. My guess is that the engine plant had already converted to the 68 engine production when the late 67 Nova L-79's were built. Who knows the real story?:dunno
