1960 steering wheel install

can someone explain the order and orientation of the spring and retainer under the steering wheel on an automatic.

On the 62 I had apart, there was a bearing race that went in first then the spring and steering wheel after.

it looks like a cup retainer that sits on the bearing just not sure which way it goes

Does the spring fit in the cup?
I think the cup is to keep the spring located.

thanks i have those diagrams but none shows the spring and cup
the up looks like the rounded side fits into the spring but im not sure
