NHRA's ban on nitromethane wasn't lifted until '63. In 62 Dodge worked a deal with Garlits to run their wedge super/stock engine in a top/gas dragster. The late Hemi didn't come out until '64, and then only as factory race cars. Street Hemi offered to the public came in '66.............was that Garlits running a wedge rather than a Hemi..........
