Tom it’s funny you posted this when you did, there’s a ‘69 396/375 for sale near me right now. JH block, 223 crank, 291 heads. Dude wants 5k for it, it’s in pieces, and it’s already .060 over...may be the next engine for my 56...

Kevin not sure I would dump a bunch of bucks for some # stuff unless you want to be to date.
You should look for some later 4 bolt blocks....it would save some money.

Agreed. 5k is a lot for me, don’t know if it’s a lot for that engine.

I ran a 4:88 gear in my 375 Chevelle. Never noticed the lack of low end power. No 325/350 hp version could come close.

Tom, I wish I had the Nova and you had a better one. Buddy of mine back in the late 70's had one just about identical to it, 4 speed bench seat car. I had a chance to buy it in 1979 for $2200 and passed, bought a 73 Camaro instead.
We were probably both at Thunder Valley at the same time in '79 when another buddy was running his '61 bubble down there.

I had a 70 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 back in the late 70's that had 4.10's and a 4 speed, that motor really came on at 3500 revs and pulled hard to about 6300 revs,It was stock except for a set of headers and a Torker intake.
