348 - 440 stroker build

Hi

This engine is going in a friends Ford 30 roadster.
Its a 348 block bored 060 and a Scat stroker kit.
Checking clearences

consider putting screen in the valley area to keep STUFF from falling on the cam, should it occur, i.e. push-rods, lifter parts, etc.

Did some weight checking before balancing. The rotating assembly is now at the machineshop for balancing.

What rods and pistons are those and what did they weigh?

Its a Scat kit, Icon pistons and Scat strokerrods where exactly the same on the gram. Pistons 814 gram and rods 774 gram.

Make sure rear camshaft journal has a groove around it for oiling. Some do not when they are made. Just like the early 65-66 396 engines.

Early Chevy V8 oiling,55-56 265 rear cam journal,at least notched,57-2001,no notch or groove needed.All W engines,rear grove.65-66 Mark IV,rear grove or notch needed at the rear of the cam.67-end of production,no groove or notch needed.

Be very careful w/ the Scat crank on the rod throws ... The radius is quite a bit larger and you may need to use a narrow bearing ... I learned that last year when i did a 348 / 438 for a customer !!
