348 in a 1960 pickup?

Hi everyone. I have a question...I photographed a 1960 K10 pickup at the Street Machine Nationals last weekend. It had a 348 in it, the owner is the second owner, and knows the first owner. He insisted the track came with that motor brand new. Could that be true? Maybe a special order or dealer installed? The truck seemed to be loaded, or at least as they were back then, with power steering, automatic, radio and all available chrome. Any input? Thanks

Chevy? or GMC? Some of the GMC's had a V6 that kind of looked like a 348.

All though it is a perfect fit Chevrolet did not offer that power plant in the K10, K20 pickups. Wishful thinking on the owners part.

AND........the 348 in a truck used the same 6 quart pan as the 409 with the dipstick on the pass side.
