348 timing set problem

Interested to share a problem I have with a Cloyes timing set. I got an overhaul set online and the Cloyes set # 9-1101 doesn't fit. I notified the online seller and they sent another Cloyes set same no. No fit on that one either. It is a roller chain set but when the two gears are "nested" in the chain, they rub each other. Center to center of cam/crank is 5". The Cloyes chain set measures 4 1/2". I eventually got a SA gear set from A/zone and it fit fine. Am I missing something or what? Two Cloyes sets in a row shouldn't be the wrong one. Its like the chain, on two sets, is short.

Sounds like they were packaged wrong, maybe a SBC chain with W motor gears.

I bought a Cloyes W timing set off Show Cars, all numbers were correct except it had the wrong chain,
gears are the same for SBC and W, SBC chain had 46 links W had 48,

I think the last one I used was a 9-3106×3. I'll see if I still have the box.

I checked Cloyes website. The 9-1101 should be correct. As already mentioned, yours may have gotten boxed with the sbc chain.

My Cloyes chain had 46 links too 61bub. Evidently their quality control must be slipping. Still waiting to hear back from my supplier, falconglobal , to see how we can settle up on the chain set.
