Ordered new thin base plate gaskets today. I was using the 1/4" thick riser gaskets because I thought they would help with heat dissipation between the carbs, and I think they are not sealing correctly. Now even with the block off plates installed on front and rear I could not get it to idle and run correctly today. The only common denominator is the gaskets. I used the thin gaskets when I first ran it with the block off plates and it ran and idled on the center carb ok. Now with the new 1/4" gaskets on them it doesn't want to run at all. The intake gaskets seem to be fine. Nothing has changed there. Same with the adapter gaskets. Has anyone else ran into this before with using the thick gaskets like the ones that come with most rebuild kits, with the metal rings in the stud holes? When the new thin gaskets get here I will try it again. Still have plenty of work to do in the meantime.

I am regretfully putting my 348W Tri Power 55 BelAir 4dr project up for sale. I may consider parting the engine separate, but would rather sell the car with the motor in it. I have hundreds of pictures documenting the frame off restoration. Car is currently back on the frame with motor and trans installed. Brand new CCP 4 wheel disc brake conversion. New rally wheels and tires. New gas tank, straps, and sending unit. All interior and glass is out of car at this time. Fresh two tone white and red traditional paint. Needs final wet sanding and polishing. Entire car was dismantled, stripped to bare metal and epoxy primered before primer and paint. Have pics of that too. Lots of block sanding to get everything slick as glass. Have all stainless trim for outside car and all the original lights and bezels. New custom 12 circuit wire harness installed. This project still needs finishing but all the really hard work is done.
