Not exactly the most representative comparison,62 spec 409/409 vs 63 spec 421SD a closer match would be against 63 spec Z-11.The video talked about how there would be no ringers but the truth is as the super stock engines progressed they became their own ringers.An early 63 Ford 427LR compared to a late 63 427HR,62 vintage 409/409 compared to a 63 Z-11,early 62 mopar 413 max wedge compared to a late 63 426 stage II max wedge,and an early 62 421SD compared to a late 63 421SD are all examples of this and chevrolet and mopar were the only ones to change the hp ratings as these engines progressed even though they all gained 50-100 hp or better.
