409 cam bearings

I 'm changing the cam in 409 truck motor with 12,000 original miles do i need to change the cam bearings the engine is super clean and ran like a clock. I just want a little more power so thought i'd change lifters and cam not the bearings???

any words of wisdom!!!!!!

I have never heard of changing the cam bearing when you change out the cam. Cam bearings usually are only changed when a complete overhaul is being done.
