409 Exhaust manifolds

Hello everyone. Im getting closer to finishing my project and one of the last things is to send off the motor to reassemble. As i was doing some research I found out that the 1965 exhaust manifolds (3855161 & 3855162) I have for the car will not work in a 1963 impala. I also have a set of other manifolds (3788604 & 3767583) I was considering using. The problem I have with the last set i mentioned is that there is no hot air choke tube in the manifold for the carb. I believe what i've read is that I need to be using a 2 1/2" outlet for the 409 425 HP motor. I would prefer to get a set of 63 manifolds (3822925 & 3822926) but I don't want to empty out my bank account to purchase a set. I was debating on selling my 65 set and the other set since I will not be using them. Has anyone used any of the aftermarket chrome headers such as headman header block hugr SR chevy 409 (eBay $256)? Im open to all suggestions and if someone may have a set of 63 manifolds that would be best.

Thank you
Jason

65 manis are hard to come by. You should be able to get enough or very close to pay for the ones you need, the good ones

Yeah I’ve never seen a set for sale until yesterday on eBay but someone wants $1500 for them.

They can ask what ever they want. There is a limit though, and some of them you see return again because they cant get what they want. I believe the pair you speak of from Ebay were 2000 originally. You mentioned you were thinking of selling them? Are you selling them?

Was that a few about 2 years ago 63impalass409 on EBaY?. I had seen either an NOS pair or super nice and I hesitated because mine are really nice and I only wanted a spare pair. I thought those were a 1000, I regret not getting those if that was them.

Yes that was them ,I had set the reserve too low as I figured they would sell for way more then eBay takes their 10% on top of that . Felt like I got a good slap in the face on that deal.

If the pair you have that has the 583 and 604 are 2.5 truck manifolds which explain the lack of a heat tube then I'm in the market for some of those.

Of the 3 that you referenced, the top one[Headman] would be my choice. The bottom one looks like it might be suited to a 65 car however.:rub

Yeah I just contacted the bottom company because they mention they will fit an impala but I want to make sure before I order.

Why shorties? No real performance increase. Aren't there any good full length available? I used those Sanderson shorties on my 58 348 delivery, leaked like a bxtch.
