409 in a gasser

I have a 55 Chevy Gasser, straight axle, engine set back 10 per cent with a 427 Chev in it currently. I'm going to put a 409 in it. I have a blown Jack Gibbs 409 in a 62 that Jarod Jardine built a set of fender well headers for. He told me it would be the last 409 headers that he would ever build.

So my question is has anybody on here converted a set of SBC headers to a a set of 409 headers? If so, what did you start with for SBC headers? I'm fairly handy. (If you can't be good looking you need to be handy) I have a MIG and some skill. Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If going that route, big block headers might have larger tubes. You can also buy weld up header kits and pieces to built them whatever way you would need.

Tig welder would be the way to weld thin tube like that. I think it's 16 gauge.

The small block header will have the tubes layed out better to mate up with the 409 head, but finding a small block header with large enough tubes may be a problem.
