Decoding stamping # on rear axle carrier on both posi and non-posi with series 3 & 4
Does the stamping #s on the carried give you the original gear set or just date of installation?
Any other info greatly appreciated

Thanks Wayne

The gear ratio are the first two letters. In this photo the AX.The 11 16 is the assembly date.
You can find the codes on the 348-409 websites home page under the 58-65 page.70383B75-2B2E-4A40-99B9-6D6F767208E0.jpeg

Did they use I, I thought they dropped the I so as not to be confused with the number 1 which would make K an October date?

News to me but I have been wrong before.
We will have to see what one of our in house experts have to say.

That would mean that there is an "M" Code out there and I've never seen or even heard of an "M".

That is also what I understand "I" is dropped and move to the next letter "J" being Sept
Now back to my original question about identification of the carrier unit (not the housing) by the numbers that are stamped on the carrier unit as pictured in the original post
Thanks in advance
