The 58 Sport coupe I recently purchased has an arm rest in the rear seat. It is "up", does it fold down smooth with the seat bottom? Doesn't seem to want to move and I won't force it. Can't see any mechanism looking around and through gaps in the upholstery. Someone please educate me!

if it is completely stuck and wont budge at all then just carefully remove the whole back seat bottom. Might need to squirt a little pb blaster on the mechanism. it should move a little bit rearward before it will go down. When it is down it should be even or slightly higher than the rest of the seat. Have to push down on it first then it pops up into the open position. a little tricky til you get the hang of it.

Dad use to sit in the back seat and lay his arm on top of the arm rest. He said push down with your elbow on the rear and lift a little on the front with your fingers while putting a little pressure down with your fore arm. This info is about 55 years old!
