Hello all...after my snafu with piston/valve problem the bubbletop came alive today and sounds great! Will be getting back on the Biscayne very soon. How about a little fun...i have a picture of a part i do NOT recognize and and putting a picture of it here so somebody can tell me what it is. James (the fellow who generously let me use his lift and shop for what turned out to be a extended stay) has this little 2 inch piece and stumped me with it. Also including some pics of his 61 conv. (coming along nicely) Please note the air brushed hood lettering and impala& cross flags on the rear quarters. Hope you all are doing well.

Dean, that piece is definitely for 63 Belair/Biscayne it goes between the front bench seat backs in the center to cover the mild steel frame where the seat backs pivot its painted the interior color and secured with one bolt. May also be used on other years as well, but my Belair and Biscayne has it.

impala bubbletop back home safely in my garage, runs good albeit a little short on power (lol) but on to the biscayne with 446/447 c.i. and a lot more power. So now that i am (almost) back into working steadily, on to the Biscayne. Shaffer said he ordered my new pistons (diamond) and will be ordering the roller cam with 230degrees duration 1st of the week. So i need to finish my brake and fuel lines, change the rear, etc. all that mundane stuff. Later all. Oh, this Biscayne is just a street car.

Sorry no pics yet but my biscayne (avatar pic) is now in Jerry Tallerferro's race shop in Topeka having the 12 bolt (from Phil) installed (with a little mod work) And he has a table for proper alignment.... Engine assembly about to commence at Tony Shaffer's in KC. So at least some work being done. Been doing couple shows and cruise nites with my bubbletop. Had a fair (probably) offer to buy, but then i would be without a old car to drive around. And i don't know how long it will be before the Biscayne can hit the streets ( working slower these days) Hope you guys are doing well and enjoying your projects....maybe a few pics soon...not much to see at this point, Dean

Hello all, pray all is well with all of you......some pics finally of work on my biscayne... 12 bolt installed with modified upper arms giving pinion adjustment, boxed lower arms and "traction bars" on coil springs. Also note my "stealthy" rear forged wheels...decided to paint them to draw less attention. Talked with Tony Shaffer this week ( a very busy man) and he can not say when my engine will be done. I still need to work on brake and fuel lines......and can also rewire dash and get it reinstalled, so no complaints on the engine. Went to his shop last week and did see my new Diamond pistons. Engine is ready to be assembled when he can get to it. Everyone take care, Dean

NEWS UPDATE!! Tony Shaffer in KC started up my stroker 409 yesterday and called me with the news today. A little under 10:1 , 427 crank out of my 348, eddey heads, diamond pistons, roller cam....made 475 hp. and 515 lbs torque. Should make a very nice street engine. Thinking now of putting it in my bubbletop and the 409 stroked 348 in my Biscayne?? Oh, which way do i jump? decisions, decisions......Going to KC tomorrow to watch dyno run on the engine and will try to video it on my phone. Regards to you all!

Thanks Don....now i am wondering what kind of headers are being used for the X frame cars. I do have the late factory exhaust manifolds to use...but am curious what else is available.

Look in the introduce yourself section on here at Wilson header mfg he is making headers that look like they fit nice.
