Motors running right now.
15 minutes into break in

Had a squeal for a minute that went away.
Kept it running as to prevent damage to cam on re-start during break-in.

2 drips per minute of water from one head gasket they will tighten and test after break in (30 minutes)

Will have them put the Petronics in as the engine didn’t start yesterday due to points which they replaced.

To be cont’d

No sure.

It went away and never came back.

Guess I’m going into engine and will soon see some clues as to what’s going on

Wasn’t the outcome I was expecting

Block - Deck stamp 1 - 2
3844422 - J134021 - TIOI4QG

1964 - passenger car - 340hp

Everything on the engine (heads, exhaust and carb are correct coded for this block
Seems it was built to be as original as possible, right down to the carb and distributor with points.

Produced a good amount of torque but not what I thought it would HP wise.

Wonder if the original single carb, or the original Exhaust manifolds are limiting the output.

268 hp is GM false advertising:confused

Gm tested the engines with no accessaries and headers. That having been said there's still a lot of places in that engine that may not be up to snuff, like compression, quench area, valve timing ,valve job,ect that could be a big part of your loss.If you're looking for 349-35o hp in stock appearing.numbers matching trim then get out the calipers, mikes, degree wheels and tear that thing down and lets get to work. Both your numbers [hp and torque are] way below what they should/could be.Post a better pic of the dyno sheet focus on the air fuel ratio as that carb may be part of the issue as well.

I just looked at your dyno sheet again. If I may suggest looking at the secondary side of that carb. The way that curve drops off suggests the possibility of the back barrels not working leaving with only 2 barrels actually feeding that engine. If it's still on the dyno, have them put an another carb like an Edelbrock 600 on it and retest it.

I built a basically stock, had some head work done, Ford 390 with 3 Holley 94's
dyno at wheels was 220Hp at 387lb/ft.
The engine with the 3 94's had a total of advertised 555cfm, and I am to believe that your actual cfm is about 85% of that.
I always felt it was under carburetored, a pair of 500cfm carbs would have woken the engine up.

Show Cars 0949 will wake that engine up and will have a smooth idle in a 409.Have them check the deck heigth/quench distance while there. If you don't mind a little "attitude" at an idle step up to the 0951.
