what will i have to do to convert my 62 power steering (what i think was called power assist) to a up dated power steering

Nothing wrong with the original system imho, changeing it out will require a lot of new expensive parts and may create problems. If you search for people having power steering problems, it’s almost always on cars with an “upgrade”.
Lots have done a conversion, I had 605 on my 63, I didn’t like it at all, too twitchy, so I converted back to stock.
