That area as well as the spot that the roof pillar locates to, were still very solid and I did not want to mess around with a ton of spot welds and bracing if I replaced the entire outer wheelhouse. Just much easier butt welding in those areas. For me any way.

The replacement tailpanel just didn’t fit quite right. I spent the better part of a Saturday tuning it up on the bead roller. Still wasn’t good enough. So I cut it in half, beat on it and used my brake to make the lines straight and get everything to the correct angles. Welded it up and it fits good enough now.

Yes Skip, several vendors sell the tail panel. I believe this one was from Hubbard’s. I’m not sure if there is more than one manufacturer though.
